Two firefighters were injured battling a four-alarm fire in multi-story building housing a grocery store located in the Bronx Monday night.
FDNY officials said the fire started around 5 p.m. in the basement and first floor of Bravo Supermarket. Crews made an initial push on the fire and had to transition to defensive operations after conditions became untenable.
One firefighter was taken to Jacobi Medical Center with a serious but not life-threatening injury and a second firefighter was transported with a minor injury, the Bronx Times reported.
Close to 40 units and 170 firefighters were on scene battling the fire that started in the store and spread throughout the building.
